Following his late father's lead, Dhani has done pretty well as a musician, composer, and singer-songwriter, earning an impressive sum throughout his music journey. But, being the only son of the globally influencing band member, Dhani quickly grabbed attention for everything, including his staggering net worth.
The Mississippi Valley Blues Society recently announced the lineup for the next Blues Fest, Sept. 16-17, 2022 at LeClaire Park, Davenport.
This two-day event showcases award-winning, traditional and contemporary blues artists to entertain and educate, which includes the annual BluesSkool event on Saturday, Sept. 17.
Blues Fest typically draws an audience of over 2,800 fans from around the area and Midwest and is a major fundraiser for MVBS. In addition, this year’s fest will see an expanded group of food and merchandise vendors, according to a Thursday release.
An animal rescue group in Muscatine is dealing with an outbreak of Canine Distemper Virus.
Supporters of It Takes A Village recently received an email from the group, detailing the outbreak.
“We have an emergent situation that continues at our shelter….with many symptomatic dogs, and two positive Canine Distemper Virus tests so far, we continue to be in an absolute state of quarantine,” the email said. “Our immediate concern is to provide treatment for the sick animals in our care, as well as doing our best to protect other animals from any spread, both in our shelter and beyond.
Caitlin Clark of Iowa broke the NCAA career scoring record in women’s basketball with a school-record 49 points against Michigan on Thursday night. Season 23 of The Voice has officially begun, and it’s already looking like Blake Shelton is stacking his team with potential superstars.
One contestant who landed on Team Blake during the first episode of the season was a country rocker named Alex Whalen. During the two-hour telecast, which aired on Monday night (March 6), Whalen, a talented hopeful from London, England, revealed that he is 43 years old. However, he explained that while he considers himself one of the older contestants on the show, he wants viewers to know that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.

The McKinnon Apartment Laurel Mercantile

This season, the McKinnon apartment was one of Erin and Ben's most challenging and rewarding projects. The Napiers and Michael McKinnon created a streamlined, southern contemporary main suite in one of Downtown Laurel's most beloved buildings. It sported a modern style compared to the traditional southern interior that Erin and Ben usually create. It was also the first time a homeowner had a hand in the design. Michael McKinnon, an experienced and talented architect, had the chance to design the blueprints of his own home, and then Erin and Ben brought it to life by adding their southern charm and warmth to the design.
William “Bill” E. Ruth, 93, of Ellisville went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023. He passed away peacefully at his residence while surrounded by family.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 20, from 1-3 p.m. with the funeral service following at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Laurel. Rev. Shannon Slover and Dr. John Helveston will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel.
